Steps to Take When your Home Floods

8/4/2020 (Permalink)

Whether it be plumbing issues or a natural disaster, water can do some serious damage to your home, your floors, ceilings, walls, and personal belongings. That's why it is important to act quickly when you discover a flood in your home.

First and foremost, if it is safe to do so, shut off your water supply. Try to dry up as much water as possible to avoid severe water damage or mold growth.

Then, call SERVPRO! We offer 24/7 emergency service so that you never have to handle emergencies on your own, no matter the time or day. Our technicians are trained to mediate and extract standing water that needs immediate attention. We come prepared with equipment to help dry down the affected areas right away, preventing further damage and mold-growing environments. The quicker you start drying, the better!

It is SO important to detect the cause of the leak and have it repaired in order to prevent the same thing from happening in the future. Trying to dry down your home while water is still leaking is nearly impossible, so having it fixed is very important.

Depending on the amount of damage or cause of leak, we recommend you file a claim with your insurance.

Once you have done all of that, we here at SERVPRO will take care of the restoration! We'll monitor your home daily to ensure the areas are drying quickly and efficiently. We'll complete all that is needed to be done in order to restore your home and/or contents correctly so no problems arise in the future. We'll communicate with your insurance company every step of the way. And of course, we'll make sure all of your questions are answered and your concerns are gone over.
